Our Story

How it all started...

Way back in 1829, Beaverdam Church (Later named Bethel E Baptist Church) was granted a separate existence by Van's Creek Church on August 15, 1829. There were 43 charter members. Some of which the family names are still in our church. We have a deep history here in Elberton, GA. Although we have moved 3 different times in the almost 200 years of our existence, we have always been in the "Longstreet District" of Elberton.
The past century has give much change to our church. Our current sanctuary was originally built with all lumber and labor provided by the members themselves in 1918. In 1949, we added on three Sunday School rooms that are now used as Staff Offices. In 1959 we added our Sunday School Annex Building. In 1968 we bricked the timber sanctuary. This is the beauty of our church... ever growing.

Expanding the vision...

Bethel E Baptist Church is joyfully expanding its vision to serve the Lord with renewed passion and purpose. As we look to the future, we are committed to deepening our impact both within our congregation and throughout the surrounding community. Through expanded ministries, outreach initiatives, and spiritual growth opportunities, we seek to be a beacon of hope, love, and truth. Rooted in God’s Word and empowered by His Spirit, Bethel E is stepping forward in faith to reach more lives, nurture disciples, and glorify Christ in all we do.

Where we are headed...

Building on our core beliefs, Bethel E Baptist Church is moving forward with a clear vision: to be a Christ-centered, Spirit-led community that reaches out in love, disciples with purpose, and serves with compassion. Grounded in God’s unchanging truth and empowered by His grace, we are committed to growing deeper in faith, expanding our outreach, and equipping believers to live boldly for Christ in everyday life. As we look ahead, we see a church not only gathered in worship, but sent into the world—to share the gospel, meet real needs, and be a light in our city and beyond.
